Luca Marcaccioli was born in Perugia, Italy, on January 8, 1978. He received the Laurea degree (with distinction) in electronic engineering from the University of Perugia, in 2002, and then he carried on his research activity and PhD in the Microwave department of the same University, coordinated by Prof Roberto Sorrentino (1947-2020).

During this period he has spent some months in the TUM (Technische Universität München) in Munich (Germany) and at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta (USA), producing in this time several papers for conferences and some international magazines. In 2006 he received the PhD degree and in September 2007 he co-founded RF-microtech s.r.l., a spin-off company of University of Perugia, together with Prof. Sorrentino to whom he succeeded as President in 2020. RF Microtech core business is the design and production of microwave apparatus (antennas, filters, microwave systems applied to the production industry).
